Cyprus International University was established in 1997, after a few year of preparation period; as a result of rising interest in higher educational institutions, teaching in English and after the increased need for universities which conduct their education in foreign languages in Turkey, The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and other countries in our neighbourhood starting from its first year. CIU successfully obtained the necessary equality certifications all of its faculties and departments and was immediately included in the official catalogue of the Turkish of The Turkish Centre of Student selection and placement (ÖSYM) by The Turkish Higher Education Board (YÖK).

Cyprus International University has now become a qualified, serious and dependable centre of education which has also been provided with all the technological capabilities that the 21st century demands and develops its physical infrastructure and its means of research and teaching in order to give better education to its students. 

 The main educational aim at Cyprus International University is to have Alumni who are fluent in English language, who are able to reach knowledge and hardness it for the best purposes, who are capable of using the latest information and communication technologies and who have absorbed the necessary professional approaches. 

Our students graduate from their respective department with the necessary knowledge, which will later on give them the opportunities to establish their own business initiatives and find jobs any where in the world in today's atmosphere of increased global competition. In order to achieve this, classes are held in small classrooms which gives the students the chance to participate in the active process of teaching and learning. The educational programme of our university is also very modern and supported by the state of the art computer technology. 

Chisholm Institute

We are Pleased to offer you a brief overview of the institute. Chisholm was named in honors of Caroline Chisholm a champion of the poor and needy in the early Australian colony. Her motto "I promise to know neither country nor creed, but to serve all justly and impartially" fits comfortably with the present day Chisholm’s philosophy.

Chisholm today operates through six 

Study Areas.

Exciting study options like virtual and simulated workplaces are keeping pace with the real lifework changes. Our students can see how their area of study integrates with others, and with industry directly. They learn in a safe, controlled, yet ‘hands on’ environment.

Chisholm courses are specifically designed to ensure students are ready for employment or new careers.  These courses can be a basis for entry to further study including university degree courses, but increasingly students come to Chisholm after completing their degree to gain skills in demand in the workplace.. Chisholm also offers over 300 vocational, technical and recreational short courses as well as industry workplace training tailored to employer requirements.

METU is one of Turkey's most competitive universities.

METU has 40 undergraduate programs within 5 faculties. Additionally, there are 5 GraduateSchools with 97 masters and 62 doctorate programs and a "School of Foreign Languages" which includes the English Preparatory Department. 13 undergraduate programs (including 1 international program) are offered in connection with METU Northern Cyprus Campus.

English as the language of instruction in all its degree programs has greatly facilitated METU's efforts to accommodate international students and researchers. METU hosts over 1500 international students from nearly 80 different countries studying toward myriad of academic degrees. .
